The Electric Wire Monster👾 <2024>
/Videos/The Electric Wire Monster focuses on the surreal reconstruction of urban village landscapes, using high-saturation colors and glitch aesthetics to place these areas in a surreal visual context, subverting the stereotypical perception of urban villages as dilapidated, dark, and colorless. Through bright, bizarre, and dramatic presentations, the work aims to reveal the complex emotions and diverse identities hidden within urban villages.
This piece particularly captures the most common sight in urban villages: the tangled electric wires. In the artwork, these wires are exaggerated into massive, thick ropes that intertwine and coil around the urban village, silently and coldly observing the area. Through these surreal reconstructions, the work seeks to challenge preconceived notions of urban villages, conveying the layered emotions and identities hidden behind the labels and encouraging a re-examination of these marginalized spaces and the people living within them.

In the winter of 2024, I made the first installation piece of The Electric Wire Monster. Â I Â brought it into the margins of the city - spaces that are forgotten, abandoned, or hidden from everyday view. Placed in these environments, the piece appears both jarring and strangely fitting, forming a bizarre symbiotic relationship with its surroundings.
